Video Commentary: Pastor Caught Off Guard by Mormon Missionaries…Why Christians MUST Be Ready
BOA thoughts on this video:
1. I see this as an excellent example of how to engage LDS missionaries with gentleness and respect, and with knowledge of LDS and Biblical doctrine.
2. Opening with the question, what is the Gospel, is effective approach.
Also see: https://bestofapologetics.com/2026/08/09/what-is-the-gospel/. Look for the LDS definition of the gospel, from their own sources.
3. Addressing the nature of God is always important and it exposes a key difference between the two viewpoints.
4. Key quote “demons know how to give people spiritual experiences“.
5. I liked the question about reading the Quran, “with real intent…”, like they ask us to read the book of Mormon. It is an effective comparison tool, in that there are real objective doubts about both books, and that their are contradictions between the Quran and the Book of Mormon as compared to the Bible. Should we read the Quran with “real intent…” when we already know that it contradicts the Bible as admitted by Islam and Christianity?
6. Nice ending with Galatians and a different gospel.
7. The pastors method of asking questions vs making statements is always effective.
8. Ending with personal questions, communicating his love for them, and inviting them to dinner, was an excellent loving way to finish.
For further study here is a response video to the original video by a protestant pastor who lives in Utah, and regularly posts about his experiences with the LDS faith:
