For 2 sessions start session 2 at 25:36 – They were deceived. Whole video 46:49, stop about 43.
“Water and blood flowing out”, wasn’t understood for centuries:
Is this a convincing argument to you that the Bible recorded the actual facts, even when the eye witnesses may have not understood them scientifically?
Pleural effusion:
Is the science of pleural effusion a compelling argument for the scientific and historical accuracy of scripture?
Pleural effusion definition: https://www.healthline.com › health › pleural-effusion “Pleural effusion is when fluid builds up in the space between your lungs and chest cavity. It can be caused by various conditions, such as heart failure, infection, cancer, or autoimmune diseases.”
Presentation suggestion, stop the video at the beginning of each objection and ask the attendees how they would answer the objection.
Objections to the resurrection of Jesus:
They were distorted
They were influenced
They were fooled
They were delusional
They were lying
They were wrong
Which of the above do you find to be the strongest objection and how would you refute it?
Successful Conspiracies Require:
- A small number of conspirators
- A short conspiracy time span
- Excellent communication
- Strong familial relationships
- Little or no pressure to confess
How does the resurrection story (if considered to be a conspiracy) stack up against the 5 requirements? Which of the 5 requirements is weakest as a conspiracy?
The 4 things the Christian view explains about the resurrection are: (which of these are the most and least compelling as an argument for you?)
- Jesus was crucified and buried
- The tomb was empty and no one ever produced his body
- The disciples believed they saw the risen Jesus
- The disciples were transformed following their alleged Resurrection observations
Do a whiteboard session and ask for the top positive arguments for the resurrection of Jesus.
What argument for the resurrection of Jesus is most compelling to you?
Supernaturalism is impossible: As a christian how do you argue against this assertion? What is your best positive argument for acceptance of supernatural occurrences?
BOA perspective: Some say that is impossible for a person to be raised from the dead. I say that you are absolutely right, but that, that IS the point. The point of raising Jesus from the dead was to demonstrate His deity, and only an extraordinary event could do that. It is supposed to be normally impossible, otherwise who would even notice it? Do you really think that a God who could create a universe out of nothing would find it challenging to perform a resurrection?
If you have yet to accept the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, what is your largest roadblock to accepting this?
